Her novels have been optioned for television, earned a BookPage starred review, won the AudioFile Earphones Award, and been chosen for Lilly's Library, an international book club. Her work has been featured on air at NPR and online in Shondaland, Marie Claire, Fortune, and more.

In addition to writing, Madi has been a practicing physician for over twenty years. She earned a degree in Biology from Villanova University and an M.D. from Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia. She has taught creative writing—helping medical students explore the role of fiction in deepening empathy and connection—at the University of Pennsylvania's Perelman School of Medicine.​
